Telecom

small logo

Telecommunication is the transmission of signals over a distance for the purpose of communication. In modern times, this process typically involves the sending of electromagnetic waves by electronic transmitters, but in earlier years it may have involved the use of smoke signals, drums or semaphore. Today, telecommunication is widespread and devices that assist the process, such as the television, radio and telephone, are common in many parts of the world. There are also many networks that connect these devices, including computer networks, public telephone networks, radio networks and television networks. Computer communication across the Internet is one of many examples of telecommunication. Telecommunication systems are generally designed by telecommunication engineers. Early inventors in the field include Alexander Bell, Guglielmo Marconi and John Logie Baird. Telecommunication is an important part of the world economy with the telecommunication industry's revenue being placed at just under 3% of the gross world product.

C-Tech - Telecommunications

Introduction to Telecommunications opens the doors to the world of telecom by presenting the first layer of the Open Standards Interconnection (OSI) model for communication networks—the physical layer. The program provides an historical perspective on communications technology, from smoke signals to the latest wireless devices. Students learn the basics and the history of Data, Voice, and Video systems. They go on to build their own working telegraph keys, construct the cables to connect them, and send messages to each other.

C-Tech - Integrated Systems Voice/Messaging

C-Tech’s Integrated Systems: Voice & Messaging (ISVM) provides students with both a theoretical and hands-on knowledge of Key Telephone Systems and Voice Mail. Key Systems are the telephone switches found in small and medium-sized businesses, about 85% of all business in the US. The overwhelming majority of these systems (95%) also have voice mail installed. The skills taught in ISVM are practical and in-demand.
